Hello, and welcome to the new blog! In the past, I wrote a sports blog titled “The Sports Caboose with Austin Druse.” In this new publication, I’ll be breaking away from the hyper-focus on sports and talking mostly about things that interest me, from sports to music to politics. Today – we’ll be examining “Three-Point Stance,” a blog/newsletter that gives a personal flair to college football coverage.
The boys and their blog
First and foremost – Three-Point Stance has a niche and it stays true to its brand. It starts in the name. A “three-point stance” (for those unfamiliar) is a football term where players place one hand on the turf in preparation for the snap. Additionally, there are three writers who all have original ideas – allowing all three “stances” to be published.

Tyler Schuster, Sam Kline and Cameron Morgan are three friends that have stayed in touch since their high school days at Omaha Westside. They’ve spent countless hours watching and discussing college football, ultimately deciding to manifest their conversations in the form of a newsletter. Personally – I find their blog to be successful for a myriad of reasons, and I’ll be using Gorman’s “8 Things…” piece as a shadow rubric, so to speak.
What makes this blog “good?”
These guys are relatable, and they make the blog accessible. This publication is available on Substack and is sent to viewers’ inbox every time they post. Patrons just hit “subscribe” and their content pops right into the ol’ email, following the mold of Daily Skimm and AP Wire. Additionally, since the three of them are degenerate gamblers (like myself), they’ll include games to watch for the week, betting lines, and picks for what may happen.

In addition to staying true to their brand, these guys just have fun with it. As Gorman notes, “some of the best blogs are people enjoying themselves.” The Three-Point Stance-men certainly do have fun. In this excerpt from Schuster’s piece on the “Egg Bowl,” you’ll feel his enthusiasm before hitting the second paragraph.

I could go on and on with these three and their love of college football – but I’ll keep it short in the meantime. While the season ended about a week ago with UGA’s win over Alabama – the gang is already ramping up for next year. If you’re a college football fan and want a more personable perspective on the game, check out Three-Point Stance on Substack.
